Mizoram CM Joins Drug Destruction, Advocates Rehab-Focused Strategy
The Chief Minister of Mizoram joined a community group, the CYMA, to burn some drugs that were found.
The drugs were taken away by a special group within the CYMA.
The CM thinks the best way to fight drugs is to help people who use them get better, not just punish them.
He wants to build places where people can recover and learn new skills.
The government is working with churches to create these places.
The CYMA also helped many people with counseling or by sending them to rehab.
Mizoram CM participated in a symbolic drug destruction event with the Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA).
The event disposed of drugs seized between March 15 and June 2025 by CYMA's Central Anti-Drugs Squad (CADS).
CM Lalduhoma advocated for a community-driven approach including rehabilitation and skill training.
The government is collaborating with church organizations for rehabilitation facilities.
CYMA's CADS apprehended 809 individuals involved in drug-related activities during the period.
