Athletics extend Tyler Soderstrom with record contract
Tyler Soderstrom, a young baseball player for the Oakland Athletics, just signed a huge contract.
It's the biggest deal in the team's history, worth $86 million over seven years.
The team can also keep him for an eighth year if they want.
Tyler had a great year in 2025, hitting 25 home runs and helping his team win more games.
The Athletics are building a strong team with young players like Tyler, and they're planning to move to Las Vegas in a few years.
Even though they don't spend as much money as other teams, they're getting better and better.
Tyler Soderstrom signed a record-breaking 7-year, $86 million contract extension with the Oakland Athletics on Christmas Day 2025.
The deal includes an eighth-year club option and escalators that could max it out at $131 million.
Soderstrom had a breakout 2025 season with a .276 batting average, 25 home runs, and 93 RBI over 158 games.
The Athletics are building a young core with long-term deals for Soderstrom, Brent Rooker, and Lawrence Butler.
The team is showing steady progress, improving from 50 wins in 2023 to 76 wins in 2025, despite having one of the lowest payrolls in the league.
