India, Maldives Sign MoUs to Enhance Ferry Services, Community Livelihoods
India and the Maldives have teamed up to make life better for people in the Maldives.
They signed agreements for 13 new projects that will help improve ferry services, making it easier for people to travel between islands.
India is giving the Maldives about ₹552 million to help with these projects.
These projects aim to boost transportation and help local communities.
The Maldives' leaders have expressed their gratitude for India's continued support, highlighting that these projects create opportunities and support socio-economic growth.
The project should be finished by the end of the year, strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
India and Maldives signed 13 MoUs for projects under India's grant assistance scheme.
The projects will enhance ferry services, expand connectivity, and uplift community livelihoods.
The grant amounts to MVR 100 million (about ₹55,28,47,552).
The announcement of Phase III of the HICDP scheme was made during the state visit by the Maldives' President last October.
The project, initially set to finish in 2027, is now expected to be finalized by the end of this year.
