L&T Launches India's First ESG Bonds, Raises ₹500 Crore
Larsen & Toubro, a big company, has started something new in India.
They've issued special bonds, called ESG bonds, to help the environment and be more sustainable.
These bonds raised 500 crore rupees, like a loan they got from investors.
The investors will get a small payment back each year, and the loan is set to be paid back in three years.
This is a big step because it shows companies in India are trying to be more environmentally friendly.
These bonds follow rules from SEBI, the financial regulator, to make sure everything is open and honest.
Larsen & Toubro listed India’s first ESG bonds on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
The company raised Rs 500 crore through Non-Convertible Debentures (NCD).
The NCDs have a coupon rate of 6.35% and a three-year maturity period.
HSBC was the sole lead arranger for the transaction.
The bonds adhere to SEBI’s ESG and sustainability-linked bond framework.
