Govt Details River Cleanup Measures After MLA's Query
In the Jharkhand Assembly, MLA Saryu Roy asked the government about pollution in the Subarnarekha and Kharkai rivers.
The government said they are working on fixing the problem.
They mentioned that some sewage treatment plants are already working, and more are being built.
For example, in Ranchi, a plant is treating waste and putting clean water into a lake.
In Jamshedpur, they are planning bigger plants to treat waste from many drains.
The government also talked about plans to manage rivers better in many cities, including Ranchi and Jamshedpur.
However, MLA Roy said the government should share these plans with the public and start working on them faster because untreated waste is still going into the rivers.
Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy raised concerns about untreated waste flowing into Subarnarekha and Kharkai rivers.
The government detailed ongoing and planned sewage treatment projects in Ranchi and Jamshedpur.
A 37 MLD treatment plant in Ranchi's Bargai is operational, releasing treated water into Bada Talab.
Jamshedpur is planning a 44 MLD treatment plant, with a 1.2 MLD plant tender already published for initial drains.
The National Mission for Clean Ganga is preparing Urban River Management Plans for 62 cities, including five in Jharkhand.
