Mumbai University Hosts Conference on Preserving Tribal Knowledge
A big meeting was held at the University of Mumbai to talk about how to keep tribal people’s stories, songs, and ways of living safe for the future.
Experts said that learning about these traditions helps everyone understand nature better.
The meeting also announced that seven universities in Maharashtra now have special centres that study tribal life, and each centre gets a big grant of 3 crore rupees.
A new book about tribal gods and their importance was released.
The university wants other schools to work together to write down and share tribal knowledge, just like schools in Delhi and Bhubaneswar are doing.
University of Mumbai hosted a one‑day conference titled “August 9: World Indigenous Day — History, Reality and India’s Role.”
Speakers stressed the importance of researching and preserving tribal communities’ knowledge, culture, history and nature‑based lifestyles.
