Jefferies Maintains 'Hold' on Manappuram Finance
Manappuram Finance is a company that gives loans, especially against gold.
Recently, they reported their financial results for the last quarter.
While their gold loan business did well, other loan types had problems.
This made their overall profit lower than expected.
A financial expert group called Jefferies looked at these results and decided to keep their advice as 'Hold', meaning they think the stock price might not go up much soon.
They set a target price for the stock at Rs 285, which is a bit lower than its current price.
The main reasons for this advice are that the company is earning less money from its loans and has to set aside more money for bad loans.
They also think that the company's other loan businesses are not doing well and need time to improve.
Jefferies maintains 'Hold' rating on Manappuram Finance with a target price of Rs 285.
Q3 profit after tax declined 14% year-on-year to Rs 240 crore, below Jefferies' estimate of Rs 330 crore.
Gold loan assets grew 58% year-on-year, but non-gold assets declined 6% quarter-on-quarter.
Net interest margins fell 167 basis points quarter-on-quarter to 10.6% due to reduced gold loan yields.
Elevated credit costs and asset quality issues in non-gold segments contribute to near-term earnings pressure.
