Met Cancels Galliano Exhibition After Backlash Over Past Remarks

The Met museum planned an exhibition about fashion designer John Galliano.

It was called “John Galliano: Horizons” and was supposed to open in May 2027.

The exhibition would also have provided the theme for the 2027 Met Gala.

Galliano had previously made antisemitic, racist and anti-Asian remarks.

A French court convicted him of a hate crime in 2011.

Many people criticized the museum for planning to honor his career.

Galliano said he was still responsible for the hurt he caused and was deeply sorry.

He and the museum decided together not to hold the exhibition.

The museum has not clearly announced all the replacement plans for the 2027 gala.
