Jio Platforms IPO Nears, With October Listing Reported
Jio Platforms is getting ready to sell shares to the public for the first time.
This kind of sale is called an IPO.
The company has finished meeting potential investors in several countries and is preparing more paperwork.
Reports estimate that it could raise about $3.8 billion by selling new shares.
Some earlier reports valued the company at about $137 billion, while newer reports give a higher enterprise valuation of $143–146 billion or more.
Sources say the listing may happen by the end of October, but Jio has not officially confirmed the date.
The plan says most of the money raised would help pay loans held by its telecom subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm.
Any remaining money would be used for general business purposes.
Jio Platforms has completed overseas investor roadshows and is preparing its final IPO documents.
Reports estimate the IPO at about $3.8 billion, with up to 27 crore new shares, or roughly 2.9% of post-issue equity.
Sources cited by PTI expect final papers in the week beginning October 12 and a possible listing by October-end; the company has not officially confirmed the timetable.
Valuation reports differ: earlier estimates put the company at about $137 billion, while newer reports cite an enterprise valuation of $143–146 billion or more than ₹12 lakh crore.
