IDF Kills Hamas Commanders Amid Ceasefire Negotiation Stalemate
The Israeli army says it has killed two leaders of the Hamas group.
One was part of a special unit that helped attack a village in Israel on October 7, 2023.
The other was a commander in a Hamas battalion that planned attacks inside Gaza.
While Israel and Hamas are trying to agree on a new peace plan, they disagree about when Israel should pull its soldiers out of Gaza.
Hamas wants the soldiers to leave, but Israel says it will only leave if Hamas gives up all its weapons.
The talks are stuck because of this disagreement.
Both sides want to end fighting and get hostages back, but they have different ideas about how to do it.
The Israeli army is also trying to stop more attacks from happening.
The situation is still tense and no final agreement has been reached yet.
IDF claims elimination of two Hamas commanders: Salem Jamal Abd al-Rahman Abu Labad and Muhammad Abd al-Nasser Muhammad Khatib.
Abu Labad was a Nukhba elite commander linked to the October 7 attack on Kibbutz Nir Oz.
Khatib was a commander in Hamas’ Maghazi Battalion involved in planning attacks inside Gaza.
Ceasefire talks stalled as Hamas demands Israeli troop withdrawal, while Israel refuses until Hamas is disarmed.
Hamas has agreed to a written framework for a second ceasefire phase contingent on Israel fulfilling first‑phase commitments.
