Tushar Gandhi Detained in Mumbai Ahead of CJP Protest
Tushar Gandhi planned to join a protest in Mumbai supporting a protest in Delhi.
He leads an organisation called Hum Bharat Ke Log and invited people to meet at August Kranti Maidan.
Police detained him and other activists before the gathering.
They said the event had not been approved and the ground was not a permitted protest site.
Gandhi said police took him from Bandra to DN Nagar police station.
Police said they detained him rather than arrested him.
Reports say he was released at about 7:30 p.m.
Another activist, Feeroz Mithiborwala, was also detained.
The Delhi protest was about allegations concerning voter lists and voter registration.
