Norway Approves $2 Billion Artillery Purchase
Norway's parliament has decided to buy new long-range artillery weapons worth $2 billion.
These weapons can shoot really far, up to 500 kilometers, which is important for protecting Norway from potential threats.
The country chose a system made by a company from South Korea called Hanwha Aerospace.
This system will be made in Poland.
Some people in Norway wanted to make their own weapons, but the government said that would take too long and cost too much money.
The new weapons will help Norway and its NATO allies defend against Russia, especially in the Arctic where Norway and Russia share a border.
Norway's parliament approved a $2 billion plan to buy long-range artillery.
The chosen system is the Chunmoo from South Korean company Hanwha Aerospace.
The artillery can fire up to 500 km and will be manufactured in Poland.
The purchase aims to boost NATO's deterrence against Russia in the Arctic.
Norway dismissed the idea of developing a European missile alternative due to time and cost constraints.
