BMC Reports Rise in Malaria, Dengue, Chikungunya Cases
Imagine a city where some illnesses, like malaria and dengue, are common during the rainy season.
The city's health department, BMC, checks how many people get these illnesses.
They found that more people got malaria and dengue in the last month.
It is like the flu increases in the winter.
Also, more people got sick from chikungunya and leptospirosis.
There were a few more cases of tummy troubles (gastroenteritis) and hepatitis.
However, fewer people got COVID-19.
These changes happen because of the weather and other reasons, but the health department is keeping an eye on things.
BMC reported a rise in malaria, dengue, and chikungunya cases from July to August.
Malaria cases increased from 4,151 to 5,706.
Dengue cases rose from 1,160 to 2,319.
Chikungunya cases more than doubled, from 265 to 485.
Leptospirosis cases increased from 244 to 471.
