Haryana appoints ex-DGP O P Singh to lead anti-drug body
Haryana has created a new group called SANKALP to fight drug abuse.
Former police chief O P Singh will run the group.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will lead it.
The group will bring together 11 government departments.
It will try to stop young people from using drugs for the first time.
It will also support treatment and help villages and city areas become drug-free.
Schools will teach students about drugs, refusal skills and mental health.
Communities will receive support and rewards for joining the effort.
Former Haryana DGP O P Singh has been appointed CEO of the new SANKALP Society.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will chair the body, which coordinates 11 departments.
SANKALP aims to reduce first-time drug cases among people under 25 and promote drug-free villages and urban wards.
Haryana recorded 3,738 FIRs and 6,801 arrests under the NDPS Act in 2025.
The programme combines enforcement with prevention, de-addiction, education, community action and data monitoring.
