Delhi University suspends PhD scholar after alleged assault on professor
CCTV captures Delhi University PhD scholar slapping professor; student suspended, barred from campus · livemint.com

A student at Delhi University is in trouble for allegedly hurting a teacher.

The student's name is Shubham Singh, and he is studying for a PhD, a very advanced degree, in the law department.

A security camera video appears to show him waiting near a building and then hitting the teacher as the teacher walked inside.

Because of this video, the university told the student to stop coming to classes for now, which is called a suspension.

He is also not allowed to enter any part of the university campus.

The police are looking into what happened and have opened a case.

A group of three teachers will study the incident and write a report.

Some teachers' groups say this is not enough to keep teachers safe.

They say teachers have been hurt or treated badly before on this campus.

They want the university to take stronger action.
