Gandhinagar Begins Demolition of 400 Illegal Properties
The government in Gandhinagar started demolishing buildings and shops built illegally.
They are removing about 700 structures, with 400 already gone.
The land being cleared is worth a lot of money.
Most of the demolished structures are homes, and some are shops or religious buildings.
The government gave notices beforehand and waited until after the monsoon and before major festivals to do the demolition.
The cleared land is part of a larger riverfront project.
Gandhinagar authorities initiated a two-day demolition drive.
Approximately 400 illegal properties were demolished on Thursday.
The drive aims to clear around 700 structures on the Sabarmati riverbank.
The land is estimated to be worth ₹1,000 crore.
Demolition was carried out by GMC and R&B with police assistance.
