Tamil Nadu Considers Exempting Kerala From Construction Material Curbs

Tamil Nadu has placed limits on sending some building materials to other states.

Kerala gets many of these materials from Tamil Nadu.

Kerala’s Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan asked Tamil Nadu to leave Kerala out of the limits.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay said his government would consider the request.

The leaders discussed the issue in Mahabalipuram during a Southern Zonal Council meeting.

Kerala says that reduced supplies could make building materials harder to get and more expensive.

Satheesan had also written earlier asking Tamil Nadu to reconsider the restrictions.

The two governments will discuss the matter again before making a final decision.
