BSNL to shut down 3G, focus on 4G
BSNL, a big phone company in India, is going to stop using 3G, which is an older way of using the internet on phones.
They have a lot of 3G towers, about 58,919, but they want to focus on 4G, which is faster.
Right now, they have 92.2 million people using their phone services.
Out of these, only 22 million are using 4G, and the rest are on 2G or 3G.
BSNL wants to make their services better by using newer technology and ending old contracts with suppliers.
They will keep 2G for now because many people still use it.
BSNL plans to shut down 3G services and focus on 4G.
BSNL has 58,919 3G sites out of a total of 229,278 tower sites.
As of September-end, BSNL has 92.2 million mobile subscribers, with 22 million on 4G.
The remaining 70.2 million users are on 2G and 3G, with 2G being BSNL's mainstay.
BSNL serves around 5,863 towns and cities under 3G.
