Wayanad Township Houses Set for October 31 Completion

Wayanad Township Houses Set for October 31 Completion

A landslide in Wayanad destroyed homes and killed 298 people in July 2024.

The government is building a township for families affected by the disaster.

Some survivors protested because they believe the building work is moving too slowly.

They also want the homes assigned to families through a draw of lots.

Minister T Siddique said the work is progressing as planned.

He said 110 more homes should be ready by the end of September.

He promised that all the houses would be finished by October 31.

Basic services are expected to be completed by December.

The minister also said officials are reviewing the list of families who should receive homes.
