AIDWA Conference Addresses Electoral, Communal, and Palestine Issues
A big meeting called the 14th National Conference of AIDWA happened in Hyderabad.
Thousands of women, including young girls, attended.
They talked about important issues like how people might lose their right to vote because of old rules, how some groups are being treated unfairly, and how they support people in Palestine who are facing a lot of trouble.
They said the government should stop using old data to decide who can vote and should talk to more people about it.
They also said that some laws and actions are hurting women from minority groups.
They also spoke about how they support the people in Palestine and think the Indian government should do more to help them.
AIDWA adopted resolutions opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, warning it could lead to mass disenfranchisement, especially affecting women, migrant workers, Dalits, Adivasis, and minorities.
The conference condemned rising communalism and its impact on women, highlighting issues like the uniform civil code, anti-conversion laws, moral policing, bulldozer demolitions, and economic boycotts.
AIDWA expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people, condemning the ongoing conflict in Gaza and criticizing the Israeli blockade and military actions.
The association demanded that the SIR be put on hold until transparent, multi-party consultations are conducted.
AIDWA criticized the Indian government for strengthening ties with Israel and departing from its pro-Palestine stance.
