Amazon Accidentally Leaks Jason Statham’s Mutiny Before Theatrical Release
Amazon accidentally put the full movie Mutiny on Prime Video before it was supposed to reach cinemas.
Some subscribers noticed they could watch it for free.
The movie was removed after being available for several hours, according to reports.
The leak may have helped people pirate copies in some countries.
This worries companies that paid to show and promote the movie.
Lionsgate is trying to limit the damage.
Distributors are discussing how to respond to Amazon.
The movie stars Jason Statham and is scheduled to open in theaters on August 21.
Mutiny reportedly appeared on Prime Video for several hours after being mistakenly uploaded to its product page.
Some subscribers said they could watch the full film days before its planned theatrical release.
The leak has reportedly led to piracy in several territories and angered international distributors and cinema chains.
Lionsgate’s anti-piracy team is working to contain the fallout while distributors coordinate a response to Amazon.
Amazon, Lionsgate, Jason Statham’s representatives and the producers have declined to comment.
