ED Files Charge Sheet in Nayeem Property Case
The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in Hyderabad has found that a gangster named Mohammed Nayeemuddin, who is now deceased, and his associates illegally took over 91 properties.
They did this by scaring the real owners and making them sign papers to give away their properties.
The ED has now filed a case in court against some of Nayeemuddin's family members and friends, saying they helped him do this.
The properties were already taken by the income tax department, and the ED is asking the court to give these properties to the central government.
The ED says that Nayeemuddin and his group used to threaten people and even kidnap them or their family members to make them give up their properties.
The sellers did not get any money for their properties and were too scared to complain to the police.
ED found 91 properties illegally acquired by Nayeemuddin and his associates.
Charge sheet filed against 10 individuals under the PMLA, 2002.
Investigation triggered by an FIR and a reference from the income tax department.
Nayeemuddin's group used intimidation and abduction to force property transfers.
Properties were already attached by the income tax department under the Prohibition of Benami Property and Transaction Act, 1988.
