IIT Kharagpur to survey Siliguri traffic issues
Siliguri, a city in India, has a lot of traffic problems.
There aren't enough places to park cars, and the roads are often very busy.
To fix these issues, the city has asked IIT Kharagpur, a famous university, to study the traffic and make suggestions.
They will work with the local government and police to come up with a plan.
The plan might include more cameras to watch the traffic, new places for police to help with traffic, and more places to park cars.
They also want to make a special room to control all the traffic in the city.
This will help make the roads safer and less crowded.
IIT Kharagpur is conducting a survey to improve traffic management in Siliguri.
The survey is being coordinated with the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) and the Siliguri Metropolitan Police.
Proposals include expanding digital surveillance, establishing new traffic outposts, and developing additional parking facilities.
A centralized traffic control room is also being considered.
Around 400 CCTV cameras and 20 designated parking lots are currently operational in Siliguri.
