Mamata Banerjee turns 71, unique female CM

Mamata Banerjee is a special leader in India.

Today, she turns 71.

She is the only woman who started her own political party and became the chief minister of a state.

Her party is called All India Trinamool Congress.

She has been the chief minister of West Bengal since 2011.

Other women leaders in India took over parties started by men.

But Mamata started her own.

She is about to become the longest-serving female chief minister, passing Sheila Dikshit.

This is a big achievement.

She is seen as a self-made and independent leader.

There is some confusion about her actual birth date, but officially, she is 71 years old.
