Andhra Pradesh Partners with Centre for Rs 150 Cr Inland Waterways Development
Imagine Andhra Pradesh is like a big state with many rivers.
The state government and the national government have decided to work together to make these rivers easier to travel on, like building highways on water!
The central government is giving over 150 crore rupees to help.
They will help make the river paths deeper so boats can pass easily and provide special systems to guide the boats safely.
The state government will find places for new boat docks and help people get to them.
This will help people travel by boat for fun, like on a river cruise, and also help move things around more easily.
The state will also make sure boats follow the rules on the rivers.
Andhra Pradesh and the central government signed an MoU worth over Rs 150 crore for inland waterways development.
The agreement was signed during India Maritime Week-2025 in Mumbai.
The central government will provide a Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS) and navigational aids, and fund fairway dredging.
The state government will allocate land for onshore facilities, tourism, and dredging disposal sites.
The MoU also aims to develop river cruise tourism and establish last-mile connectivity to terminals.
