NGO Alleges Gammon India Ripped Off ₹25,000 Crore in Bhopal Project
Imagine some grown-ups were given a big piece of land to build a special shopping and office area.
They paid to use the land for a while.
But then, the grown-ups who own the land said, 'You can't use it anymore,' a few years ago.
Now, a watchdog group says the companies that were using the land are still selling shops and offices on it, even though they aren't supposed to.
The watchdog group thinks they took a lot of money, like twenty-five thousand crore rupees, which is a super big amount!
They have told the police and other important people about this.
The companies haven't said anything about these claims yet.
NGO Watch League alleges Gammon India and partners ripped off ₹25,000 crore in Bhopal's central business district project.
The companies are accused of illegally selling commercial shops, offices, and flats.
The land, 14.88 acres, was leased to the companies but the lease was canceled in 2017.
Despite the cancellation, registrations for property sales are allegedly being done through Deepmala Infrastructure.
Complaints have been filed with police, ED, EOW, and the PMO.
