Supreme Court Seeks Response from Mohammad Shami on Wife's Maintenance Plea
A famous cricketer, Mohammad Shami, is being asked by the Supreme Court to respond to his ex-wife, Hasin Jahan's, request for more money.
She says the amount of money the court previously ordered Shami to pay each month is not enough for her and their daughter.
She believes this because Shami earns a lot of money, reportedly about 48 crore rupees in a year, and lives a very fancy life.
She says she is living in difficult conditions and struggles to pay for everyday things.
She wants him to pay Rs 7 lakh for herself and Rs 3 lakh for their daughter every month.
The Calcutta High Court had ordered him to pay Rs 1.5 lakh to his wife and Rs 2.5 lakh to their daughter each month.
The Supreme Court judges told Shami to reply to this plea.
The judges also mentioned that the Rs 4 lakh interim amount already seems quite good.
The Supreme Court has issued a notice to cricketer Mohammad Shami seeking his response to his estranged wife Hasin Jahan's plea for increased monthly maintenance.
Hasin Jahan is seeking Rs 7 lakh for herself and Rs 3 lakh for their daughter, totaling Rs 10 lakh monthly.
The Calcutta High Court had previously ordered Shami to pay Rs 1.5 lakh to Jahan and Rs 2.5 lakh to their daughter monthly, totaling Rs 4 lakh.
Jahan argues the awarded amount is insufficient given Shami's reported annual income of nearly Rs 48 crore and his lavish lifestyle, while she lives in 'downtrodden conditions'.
The Supreme Court bench asked Shami to respond to the plea challenging the Calcutta High Court's maintenance orders.

Hasin Jahan (Estranged Wife)
Hasin Jahan argues that the Rs 4 lakh monthly maintenance awarded by the Calcutta High Court is inadequate, considering Shami's annual income of nearly Rs 48 crore and his lavish lifestyle. Hasin Jahan (Estranged Wife)
Jahan contends that the amounts awarded are 'grossly inadequate' and do not align with Shami's financial standing and lifestyle. She is seeking enhancement of the interim maintenance granted by the Calcutta High Court.
Mohammad Shami (Cricketer)
The Calcutta High Court enhanced the interim maintenance to Rs 1.5 lakh for Jahan and Rs 2.5 lakh for their daughter. The August 25 order allowed Shami to clear the arrears in eight monthly installments.
