Tezpur University Protests Hit 100 Days
People at Tezpur University in Assam, India, have been protesting for 100 days.
They are upset with the university's Vice Chancellor, Shambhu Nath Singh, because they believe he has done some bad things.
These include not managing money properly, cutting down trees, and not respecting a famous cultural figure named Zubeen Garg.
The students, teachers, and staff are so frustrated that they started a hunger strike for 24 hours to get attention and demand that the Vice Chancellor be removed.
They say the university is not working well because of this, and many people have even quit their jobs.
They want the government to do something about it.
Tezpur University stakeholders launched a 24-hour hunger strike to mark 100 days of protests against Vice Chancellor Shambhu Nath Singh.
Protests involve the Tezpur University Teachers' Association (TUTA), Tezpur University Non-Teaching Employees' Association (TUNTEA), and the student community.
Allegations include fiscal irregularities, deforestation, ecological destruction, and disrespect to cultural icon Zubeen Garg.
The Vice Chancellor has been absent from the campus since September 22, leading to administrative paralysis.
At least 11 faculty members and senior officials have resigned since the protests began in September.
