Hyderabad Launches Plastic Recycling and E-Waste Campaigns
In Hyderabad, a special truck was launched to teach people about recycling plastic.
This truck has machines to squish and burn plastic waste safely.
It will travel all over India, showing people how to manage plastic waste better.
At the same time, the city is also starting a two-day event to collect old electronic items like phones and TVs.
People are being told to put these items out so they can be recycled properly.
There is also a competition for students and new companies to come up with ideas for recycling, with prizes for the best ideas.
On the first day, 47 metric tonnes of e-waste were collected from 271 locations using 94 vehicles.
The city also removed 4,445 metric tonnes of additional waste, including municipal solid waste and construction debris, as part of a special sanitation drive.
Swachhata Yatra, a plastic recycling campaign, was launched in Hyderabad with a specially designed truck.
The campaign will travel across India, demonstrating plastic waste management and recycling.
The Bharat Next Challenge competition will award prizes for innovative sustainability ideas.
A two-day e-waste sanitation drive was conducted in Hyderabad to collect and process electronic waste.
Awareness campaigns are being conducted to educate the public about responsible e-waste disposal.
Residents handed over large appliances such as washing machines, refrigerators, and air coolers, which would otherwise have been dumped in the city’s nalas.
The collected e-waste, including geysers and dishwashers, is being sent to the Dundigal recycling plant.
GHMC collected 47 metric tonnes of e-waste across 271 locations, deploying 94 vehicles exclusively for the drive.
GHMC’s special sanitation drive, now in its 12th day, is transforming garbage-prone spots into “selfie points.”
