Bombay HC Upholds Flat Seizure Linked to 1993 Blasts
Imagine some people tried to get back apartments that the government took away a long time ago because they were linked to a bad guy from the 1993 Bombay blasts.
These people said they bought the apartments legally.
But the court looked at the evidence and said they didn't have the right paperwork to prove it.
The court also said that the government had already been approved to take the flats in the past.
So, the court sided with the government.
It means that the people who wanted the flats back can't have them.
Bombay High Court dismissed a plea from Tiger Memon's relatives.
The plea challenged the seizure of two flats in Mumbai under SAFEMA.
Petitioners claimed to be bona fide purchasers of the flats.
The court cited lack of registered sale deed and previous rulings upholding the forfeiture.
The court also noted the suppression of facts by the petitioners.
