Delhi's Sangam Vihar Residents Forced to Manage Their Own Trash
Imagine your trash cans are overflowing, and no one comes to pick it up.
That's what's happening in Sangam Vihar, Delhi.
The garbage trucks haven't visited in weeks!
People are now forced to take their trash to a dump themselves, making the area smelly and messy.
The problem is caused by a problem with the company hired to collect the trash.
Officials say they're working on fixing it soon by bringing in a new company to collect trash in the area.
Sangam Vihar residents in Delhi are manually disposing of their trash due to lack of municipal waste collection.
Municipal waste vans have not serviced the area for over 20 days.
Residents are hiring auto-rickshaws and hauling waste to a dumping site near Batra Hospital.
Overflowing bins and uncollected trash cause health concerns and inconvenience residents.
Municipal officials attribute the issue to a recent lapse in garbage collection contracts.
