Hungary Bans LGBTQ+ Symbols on Government Buildings
Hungary's leader, Viktor Orban, has made a new rule.
He said that no symbols about LGBTQ+ people can be shown on government buildings.
This is part of a larger effort to limit the rights of LGBTQ+ people, which Orban says is for protecting kids.
The government says it's mainly about stopping the spread of certain ideas to children in places like schools and media.
A big parade called Budapest Pride is still planned, but there are concerns because of the new rules.
Some people disagree with the law and feel it goes against rights, and there is a legal battle with the EU over a similar law from 2021.
Hungary's Prime Minister banned the display of LGBTQ+ symbols on government buildings.
The ban was announced before the Budapest Pride festival.
The government stated the ban aims to curb LGBTQ+ propaganda aimed at children.
The ban does not affect municipal buildings.
An advocate general recommended that Hungary be declared in breach of EU law over an anti-LGBTQ law adopted in 2021.
