BJP MP Calls for Larger Families, Earlier Marriages

Gajendra Patel is a member of India's Parliament from the BJP.

In a speech in Barwani, he said people should have bigger families.

He suggested having at least four or five children.

He said families used to be larger and that larger families could help grow community lineages.

He also said this could help strengthen India's unity.

Patel said work and businesses had grown, too.

He encouraged followers of Sanatan Dharma to marry in their early twenties.

He contrasted that with people marrying at ages 30 or 35.

A video of his remarks spread on social media.
