Government Reaches 78% of FY27 Capital Receipts Target

Government Reaches 78% of FY27 Capital Receipts Target

The government planned to raise ₹80,000 crore during FY27 from selling some investments and using public assets to collect money.

In the first five months, it collected ₹62,124 crore.

That is about 78% of the full-year goal.

The biggest amount came from selling a 6.5% share in Life Insurance Corporation of India.

This sale brought in ₹31,515 crore.

Sales of shares in Coal India, NHPC and Hindustan Copper also raised money.

The government collected another ₹6,367 crore through an Infrastructure Investment Trust.

It is also considering selling IDBI Bank, partly because higher energy and fertiliser import costs could put pressure on spending.
