India and UK to Sign FTA, Aiming to Boost Trade and Ties
India and the UK are making a deal to trade more easily.
This means less tax on things like clothes and shoes from India and whisky and cars from the UK.
Prime Minister Modi is visiting the UK to make the deal official.
They want to make trade worth twice as much as it is now.
They will also talk about other important topics like protecting people from extremists and other security issues.
PM Modi will visit the UK from July 23-24 to strengthen bilateral relations and sign the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
The FTA, negotiated since 2022, aims to double trade between India and the UK to $120 billion by 2030.
The agreement seeks to eliminate duties on Indian exports such as textiles and leather, while reducing tariffs on UK products like whisky.
Discussions will cover trade, defense, climate, innovation, and education, and PM Modi will meet King Charles III.
The presence of Khalistani extremists and the extradition of fugitives will also be discussed.
