Nepal-China Flash Flood Toll Reaches 955; 158 Indians Rescued

A sudden flood and mudslide struck Nepal and China on Wednesday.

By Monday, 955 people had died.

Most of the deaths, 939, were in Nepal.

Many people were still missing in both countries.

Rescue teams in Nepal had saved more than 11,300 people.

This included 158 Indian citizens.

The disaster happened in Nepal’s mountainous Rasuwa district near the Chinese border.

The United States Geological Survey said a glacier collapsed and created a huge wave of water and debris.

People in the area reportedly had no warning because it was not raining there.
