Mamata Banerjee Escalates Attack Over West Bengal Voter Deletions
Mamata Banerjee says some people may have been removed from West Bengal’s voter lists.
She believes areas where her party won had more deletions.
She criticized the Election Commission and used the nickname “Vanish Kumar” for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Banerjee said removing eligible voters could take away their right to vote.
She also alleged that security personnel went door to door and warned people not to vote for her party.
The voter-list review is called the Special Intensive Revision.
She wants the lists checked carefully at every polling booth.
She also questioned why election commissioners have legal immunity.
Her comments came during a political dispute between her party and the Election Commission.
Mamata Banerjee accused the Election Commission of deleting voters from West Bengal’s electoral rolls.
She alleged that constituencies previously won by the Trinamool Congress saw more voter deletions.
Banerjee called Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar “Vanish Kumar” and accused him of threatening voting rights.
She said the Special Intensive Revision process should be examined booth by booth and compared it with concerns raised in Bihar.
Banerjee also questioned legal immunity for election commissioners and alleged the provision was passed when 147 MPs were suspended.
