Pakistan-Afghanistan Tensions May Escalate in 2026: ICG Report
The International Crisis Group (ICG) has released a report saying that the conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan might get worse in 2026.
Pakistan and Afghanistan had a fight last year because Pakistan said Afghanistan was hiding bad guys who were hurting Pakistani soldiers.
Afghanistan said no, and they fought back.
Now, both countries are very angry at each other, and they are not talking or trading.
The ICG says that if the bad guys keep causing trouble, Pakistan might attack Afghanistan again, and Afghanistan might fight back very strongly.
This could make the situation even worse.
The International Crisis Group (ICG) predicts that the Pakistan-Afghanistan conflict may escalate in 2026.
Pakistan may strike Afghanistan again if it traces another attack to Afghan soil.
The Taliban regime, though outgunned, could retaliate lethally, potentially provoking a stronger Pakistani response.
Diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan are suspended, and trade has ceased.
The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is a significant factor in the ongoing tensions.
