India's Sugar Output Anticipated to Rise 15% in 2025-26 Season
Imagine India makes a lot of sugar.
Next year, experts think they'll make even more, about 15% more than now!
This is because they expect a lot of rain, which helps the sugar cane grow.
Some of the sugar will be used to make fuel for cars, which is good for the sugar companies.
Even though it costs more to grow the sugar cane, the price of sugar might stay the same.
So, sugar companies might not make much more money.
There's also plenty of sugar saved up from this year to keep everyone happy until the next harvest.
Crisil projects a 15% rise in India's sugar production to 35 MT in the 2025-26 season.
The increase is due to an expected 'above-average' monsoon, boosting cane acreage in Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Ethanol diversion is expected to increase to 4 MT in 2025-26, aligning with government targets.
Despite rising cane costs, sugar prices are expected to remain stable, limiting profit increases for millers.
Carry forward stock for the next season is estimated at 5.2-5.3 MT, enough to meet domestic demand for the first two months.
