Anthropic’s Revenue Surges as IPO Expectations Reach $2 Trillion

Anthropic is an artificial-intelligence company that reported a very large jump in sales.

It made more than $11.5 billion in the second quarter, compared with $787 million during the same quarter last year.

Much of its business comes from companies buying its AI tools, especially tools that help people write computer code.

Its reported yearly sales pace reached about $65 billion by the end of July.

Anthropic has secretly filed paperwork to possibly sell shares to the public.

Investors think the company could be worth $2 trillion or more, but Anthropic has not publicly promised that value.

Some people expect its sales to reach $100 billion to $120 billion at an annual pace by the end of this year.

The company could face stronger competition from other AI providers, especially in coding.

Going public could also make it harder to prioritize safety spending and slow down releases when needed.
