British-Indian Nurse Jailed for Rape, Sexual Assaults in Scotland
A nurse named Naijil Paul from Kerala, India, was sent to jail for seven years and nine months.
He admitted to doing very bad things to three women who worked with him at a care home in Scotland.
He made one woman do something she didn't want to do by threatening her job.
He also touched two other women in a way that made them uncomfortable.
The judge said Paul tried to blame the women for what he did.
He will be watched for two more years after he gets out of jail and can never go near the women he hurt.
He was caught in India and brought back to Scotland to be punished.
Naijil Paul, a 47-year-old British-Indian nurse from Kerala, was sentenced to seven years and nine months for rape and sexual assault.
He admitted to raping a colleague and sexually assaulting two other women while managing a care home in North Lanarkshire, Scotland.
Paul fled to Kochi, India, before his trial in 2019 and was extradited back to Scotland in June 2023.
The judge noted Paul's victim-blaming behavior and considered him a medium to high risk of re-offending.
Paul will be supervised for two years after his release and is banned from contacting the victims.
