India’s Aerospace Industry Gains From Global Aircraft Backlog

The world wants to buy many more airplanes than factories can currently build.

More than 17,000 airplanes are waiting to be made.

This is creating an opportunity for Indian companies that make airplane parts.

India’s aerospace exports grew to $7 billion in FY25 from about $1.4 billion in FY20.

Companies such as Boeing and Airbus already buy billions of dollars of parts and services from Indian suppliers.

Indian manufacturers make items including engine parts, wings, electrical systems and special tools.

It can take several years for a supplier to pass the safety checks needed to join an airplane program.

Once approved, a supplier may keep working with aircraft makers for a long time.

India’s growing domestic aircraft orders and maintenance sector could create additional demand.
