GVMC Accelerates Velampeta Housing Project for 177 Families
GVMC is planning a new apartment building in Lakshmi Nagar.
The building is meant for 177 poor families who live there now.
Many families have moved out of their old huts voluntarily.
They did this because GVMC promised to give eligible families flats in the new building.
Workers are removing empty huts and making the land level.
Families moving into rented homes are supposed to receive six months of rent ahead of time.
A foundation ceremony will be held soon with government officials and public representatives.
The families have asked for written letters confirming the promised homes, and GVMC says those letters will be given after the ceremony.
GVMC is clearing and levelling the Lakshmi Nagar site in Velampeta for a multi-storeyed housing project.
The project is intended to provide flats at the same location to 177 poor families.
Residents have voluntarily vacated their houses after receiving assurances from GVMC.
Officials were directed to complete site clearance and levelling quickly, including through day-and-night work.
Families shifting to rented homes are to receive six months’ rent in advance, while assurance letters are expected after the foundation ceremony.
