Fed Raises Rates as Inflation Persists, Trump Demands Cuts

The US central bank raised interest rates for the first time in more than three years.

It said prices are still rising too quickly.

The Fed wants inflation to return to 2%.

Kevin Warsh said inflation has been too high for too long.

He also said the job market and the economy remain strong.

Tensions in the Middle East were another concern.

Donald Trump disagreed with the decision.

He said interest rates should be 1% or lower to encourage more investment.

The Fed and Trump therefore support very different approaches to interest rates.
