Pune Reduces Cable-Laying Fees for Electricity Company
Imagine the city is a big puzzle, and sometimes workers need to dig up the ground to put in important wires, like for electricity.
The Pune city government has decided that the company that puts in these wires (MSEDCL) will now pay much less money for digging and laying the wires.
Before, it cost a lot, but now it's much cheaper.
Private companies will still pay more.
The city also wants to make sure the roads are fixed properly after digging.
They'll also work together to remove any poles or wires that are in the way.
This is similar to what another city, Nagpur, has already done.
Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) revised cable-laying charges for MSEDCL.
New rate is ₹100 per running meter for digging and laying underground cables.
Previous rate for government agencies was ₹6,096 per meter.
Private firms will be charged ₹12,192 per meter.
A joint committee will remove obstructive electrical infrastructure.
