2026 Lunar Eclipse Coincides With Raksha Bandhan in India
A lunar eclipse is expected on August 28, 2026.
Raksha Bandhan will also be observed on that date.
This makes the day unusual for people in India.
However, people in India will not be able to see the eclipse.
The eclipse will stay below the horizon from India.
Its timings will still fall during the morning and afternoon in Indian Standard Time.
So, the eclipse happens according to the clock but is not visible in the Indian sky.
The main connection is that both events share the same date.
The lunar eclipse is scheduled for August 28, 2026.
Raksha Bandhan 2026 falls on the same date as the eclipse.
The eclipse will not be visible from India because it remains below the horizon.
Its astronomical timings occur during the morning and afternoon in Indian Standard Time.
The date is considered unusual because of the eclipse and festival coincidence, not because India will see it.
