Telangana Forum Demands Immediate Release of Political Prisoners

A group in Telangana protested for people they consider political prisoners to be released.

They especially asked for the release of Adivasi prisoners.

They also want certain cases under the UAPA law to be dropped.

The group says these cases involve mass-organization leaders, intellectuals, minority political prisoners, and Telangana movement activists.

It also wants the UAPA law to be repealed.

The protest took place at Indira Park in Hyderabad on Saturday.

Prof. G. Laxman said some people accused of being Maoists have stayed in jail for years without a final trial.

The forum also asked the governments of Telangana, other states, and the Central government to act.
