India Ministries Sign Udyam Data Pact to Strengthen Business Statistics
Two Indian ministries have agreed to share information about registered small businesses.
The agreement is between the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
The MSME Ministry will send Udyam Registration information to the statistics ministry using computer connections called APIs.
The system will allow information to be shared in both directions.
The data will help create a National Statistical Business Register.
This register is a regularly updated list of businesses and other economic units.
It can help officials plan surveys and understand changes in businesses.
The agreement is meant to make business statistics more complete and reliable.
The MSME Ministry and MoSPI signed a Memorandum of Understanding to share data.
