GST Reforms and Festival Cheer Boost Indian Vehicle Sales to Record Highs in October
Imagine you're going shopping for a vehicle during a big sale season in India.
Because of new tax rules, smaller cars became cheaper, making it easier for people to buy their first car, especially those who used to ride bikes or scooters.
The festive season, when people love to buy new things, also made many people want to buy cars and bikes.
Because of this, car and bike companies sold more vehicles than ever before in October!
Even sales of trucks and tractors went up.
However, sales of construction equipment went down.
This success was especially strong in the countryside, where people had more money from farming and new roads being built.
Domestic vehicle retail sales reached record highs in October, driven by GST 2.0, festival demand, and rural recovery.
Passenger vehicle sales increased by 11% year-on-year to 557,000 units, while two-wheeler sales surged by 52% to 3.15 million units.
Commercial vehicle, three-wheeler, and tractor sales also saw significant growth.
Construction equipment sales were the only segment to decline, dropping 30% year-on-year.
Rural India emerged as a major growth driver, with significantly higher sales growth for passenger vehicles and two-wheelers compared to urban areas.
