Lost Medieval City of Nya Lödöse Unearthed in Gothenburg

Lost Medieval City of Nya Lödöse Unearthed in Gothenburg

Imagine finding a hidden city under your playground!

That's what happened in Sweden.

A city called Nya Lödöse was built a long time ago, around the time of knights and castles.

It had walls and a gate to keep it safe.

People lived there, but they eventually left for a new city called Gothenburg nearby.

Gothenburg was better for jobs and protection, so Nya Lödöse became a 'ghost town'.

Recently, people digging in the area found parts of this old, forgotten city, like walls, a ditch filled with water, and even parts of buildings and streets.

They also found old things like pottery, bones, and coins, which tell us about the people who lived there.
